I bought Tabla Beat Science’s Tala matrix album recently. It’s a really cool Indian trip-hop CD that heavily features percussionist Karsh Kale, one of my personal favorites. The tabla drum is really prominent and flows beautifully with the electronic elements. It also has my favorite cover art ever- Ganesh as homeboy is pure genius!

And yet now I know. Actually it never even occurred to me to wonder whether the baby on the cover Nirvana’s “Nevermind” album was anyone recognizable or just a stock photo. Still, it’s cool to think that he’s real and he is now 17 years old.
Spencer’s quote in Rolling Stone about getting a little money out of it every 5 years when someone comes asking is great, too. Maybe the Afghan woman from the iconic National Geographic picture should get a similar deal. No disrespect to Spencer, but I bet she could use it more.
