Fred Rodriguez had this to say after being caught in a crash at the Tour de France today:
“They do it every time. They don’t care,” said an angry Rodriguez. “It’s the Tour de France and they think they own this race. They have no respect for the riders. I’m sick of it.”
In his defense, the course ran through a chicane in the last kilometer of the course that seemed guaranteed to cause a crash. Left-right-left at 50kph with guys all around is a recipe for disaster.
I’ll also give Freddy a break for not being completely composed after getting off the ground and over the finish line just before offering up this gem.
Nevertheless, I feel compelled to point out to Mr. Rodriguez that the organizers do, in fact, own the race. I would have thought that was clear.
